Previously, Bethesda announced that they would introduce Fallout 76 mod support immediately after the game launch. However, in a recent announcement, the marketing department of Bethesda suggested that it might take a whole year before the mod support to be implemented.
If you think about it, it’s entirely fair since Fallout 76 needs to have private servers established before it’ll support mods, and those won’t come out immediately after launch.
“I don’t foresee a universe in which we allow players to come into Fallout 76’s public servers with their own unique and different mods. If you want to run mods, they’ll have to be done on a private server. You’ll be deciding what sort of mods you’re including and running, and everyone playing on that server is playing with those mods,” said Pete Hines from Bethesda in an interview for GameSpot.
“Is going to be a lot of work,” Hines added.
Fallout 76 Mod Support Might Not Come Before November 2019
Even though Bethesda did not offer an exact date when mod support would be introduced in Fallout 76, GameSpot indicates that “Hines cautioned that mods might not be supported in Fallout 76 until November 2019 at the soonest.” That would be one year after the game launch.
Of course, without mods, Bethesda’s singleplayer open-world RPGs would be a lot buggier and not so pleasant, after all, but Fallout 76 is not that regular open-world RPG. However, sandbox survival is a genre of games that would also need mod support to be better.
Unfortunately, as Bethesda suggested via Pete Hines Fallout 76 mod support would not come before November 2019 which is about one year after launch.
Fallout 76 would be available on Bethesda’s own client (no Steam version would be released for this title) starting with November 14th, 2018, for £50/€60/$60. Also, a PC closed-beta Fallout 76 version would be accessible for those who pre-ordered the game beginning with October 30th.
