Call of Duty Black Ops 4 Has Broken All-Time Digital Sales Record of Activision

According to Activision, the new Call of Duty Black Ops 4 made the best start ever regarding digital sales. Accordingly, the new Black Ops 4 sets a new digital sales record among all Activision’s titles, so far.

Indeed, the highly sought-after Call of Duty Black Ops 4 launched on October 12th, and according to its publisher, Activision, the launch of this new title is the best in term of digital sales in the series’ history.

In just 24 hours, Activision confirmed that Call of Duty Black Ops 4 has broken records regarding digital sales, with more gamers buying the new episode of the franchise, within a 24 hours time frame, in comparison to the CoD WWII, released in 2017. Noteworthy is that the new Black Ops 4 is also the first in the saga to make its debut on Battle.net for its PC version and it also scored a successful launch on that platform, selling as twice as much as the CoD WW II.

Call of Duty Black Ops 4 has broken all-time digital sales record for Activision

Of course, this is excellent news for Activision regarding Call of Duty Black Ops 4 digital sales figures. However, the news regarding the physical sales of the new title is not as good as the publisher expected.

Across the UK, for example, the new Black Ops 4 only sold 260,000 physical copies, which is almost by 50 percent less than the 515,000 copies delivered by the CoD WW II.

It is, however, a normal thing that the Call of Duty Black Ops 4 digital sales outperformed the physical ones since almost everything is now on the Internet and is much straightforward to grab a game from a digital platform than going to a store to buy it.

Besides all that, CoD Black Ops 4 is the first in the franchise to practically ignore the single-player campaign and focus on multiplayer with the new Royal Battle mode called Blackout.
