Apple’s 2018 iPad Pro – Are there Reasons to Upgrade?

There are a lot of iPad Pro owners who have a main question in their minds and it consists of the worthiness of upgrading to the latest iPad Pro generation.

First steps

Firstly, let’s talk about prices. The new 11-inch base iPad Pro comes with a $799 price tag. Those who are planning on using the Apple Pencil as well will also have to purchase the latest second-generation Apple Pencil that’s available for $129, which brings the base model up to a grand total of $928.

You might think that it is a bit high, but even with this price, the new iPad Pro still packs enough power and features to make it worth that much.

The same story again

This feels just like living the iPhone X story all over again since the new iPad Pro represents practically an iPad revolution. It will come with Face ID that functions regardless of how you hold the device orientated, a refurbished exterior design, a new edge-to-edge display, the first USB-C in any type of iOS device ever, shocking performance, and support for the latest Apple Pencil.

The iPad Pro from last year shocked us as well by performing better than the 12-inch MacBook from Apple. It managed to do it both graphics performance and processor performance. The new iPad Pro is supposedly going to double the graphics performance and almost double the processor power of last year’s model.

Benchmarks

There are already Geekbench 4 benchmarks leaked online and they reveal that the new iPad Pro’s processor is closing in on Apple’s new 15-inch MacBook Pro’s performance. It is even closer to the performance of the 2017 5K iMac, which has the best processor. Both the 2018 13-inch MacBook Pro and the 2017 15-inch MacBook Pro had their best processors outperformed as well.
