It looks like there is a new trending for recently released games to come along with a mobile companion app. Similar to Red Dead Redemption 2’s mobile application, Call of Duty Black Ops 4 also comes with a companion app that provides personalized statistics. Besides, the Activision’s companion app is also working with Call of Duty WWII.
“The Call of Duty Companion App is something that we are very excited for players to use to enhance their gameplay experience. From connecting you with friends and fellow players to providing personalized match analysis to checking out your load-outs and competing in challenges with your own squad, it’s a new way for players to engage with the game and the community,” Activision marketing tech boss Gina Hope stated.
On a weekly basis, Call of Duty Black Ops 4 and WWII Companion App will update with an “action report” that will show you how you’ve played in the past seven days. Also, the app would offer suggestions and tips based on your in-game performances.
Call of Duty Companion App Provides Personalized Statistics
That is, however, not the first Companion App for Call of Duty games, as Activision released in 2012 a similar app as part of the Call of Duty Elite program. Back then, the mobile app was also providing information about your in-game performance and statistics about how you played.
Now, Call of Duty Companion App is back for Black Ops 4 and WWII titles and is available for both iOS and Android mobile operating systems.
As both Black Ops 4 and Red Dead Redemption 2 are two games that depend on highly engaged players that might most likely spend money on in-game microtransactions, the companion applications for these two games are allowing the devs to keep in touch with their most loyal gamers with push notifications directly on their smartphones.
