Rockstar Games finally confirms the long-awaited goal for its most profitable video game. Grand Theft Auto V is already the living legend of video games. The title released on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC has achieved historic sales figures for the industry. While months ago the tech news portals talked about the game reaching around 95 million copies sold, now Rockstar announced that GTA 5 had sold more than 100 million units.
That figure means that, in five years on the market, Grand Theft Auto V managed to sell over 100 million copies, beating the Hell out of other video games of its times. The information has been revealed in Rockstar’s latest financial report, as explained by GameSpot.
With this figure, the title demonstrates its power despite the passage of time and also makes it clear that Rockstar has known how to market the game. From the free updates to the constant and enormous potential of the GTA Online, all that has made more and more players dare to try the game and experience the life on the streets of San Andreas.
GTA V Surpassed 100 Million Copies Sold, Rockstar Games Reported
That milestone has been reached as Red Dead Redemption 2 shapes up as another successful Rockstar and Take-Two title, on a commercial level as well. Rockstar’s Western, Red Dead Redemption 2, may not have started with the same strength as GTA 5, but it’s outperforming the first title in the famous franchise, achieving some pretty enviable sales figures, too.
Returning to Grand Theft Auto V, and knowing that a GTA 6 installment would arrive in about 2-3 years, we only have to wait to see how far this title can go. At the moment, it is already breaking any possible record with its total sales.
Now, all we have to do is to see how would the GTA 5 saga ends. Could it double the total number of sold copies before GTA 6 hit the shelves or not?
