iPad Pro (2018) vs. Google Pixel Slate – Best Tablet for its Display and Specs

Technology continues to evolve each year, and big brand continue to compete in order to bring out the best products on the market. This year was a good one for tablets. If until recently the iPad was considered the undisputable leader of tablets, it appears that new rivals have emerged recently.

For example, Google’s Pixel Slate is worth mentioning. The Google Pixel smartphones were already quite successful, and it is nice to see that the Pixel family is growing larger. Apple also released its latest iPad Pro devices this autumn. Let’s see what are the differences between these two.

Display

When it comes to display, Google’s Pixel Slate has “two” enemies. Apple has released the iPad Pro in two different sizes: 12.9 inches and 11 inches. However, this is the only major difference between these two. In terms of specs they are the same. Meanwhile, the Slate has 12.3 inches.

Nonetheless, the Slate has a higher pixel density than the iPads. Google’s Slate has 293ppi while the iPads have 264pp. However, the iPad Pro displays have TrueTone technology which for many users represents a major advantage, since it allows the screen to change based on the temperature of the room. These features are not available on Google’s Pixel Slate.

Storage

The iPad Pro storage options are better compared to the ones of Google’s Pixel Slate. The iPad Pro is available in 64GB, 256GB, 512GB or 1TB options, while Google’s Slate also has four options, but lower ones: 32GB, 64GB, 128GB, or 256GB. However, we must mention that the Pixel Slate comes with more RAM. The entry-level of Google’s Pixel Slate has 4 GB of RAM, but most models come with 8GB or 16GB of RAM. Meanwhile the 1 TB iPad Pro comes with 6 GB of RAM, while the 64GB, 256GB, and 512GB models come with 4GB of RAM.

Cameras

The front camera of the iPad Pro is behind the front camera of the Slate with 1 MP, as Google’s tablet comes with an 8 MP sensor. However, the rear camera of the iPad Pro has 12 MP and it is also able to shoot 4K videos. Meanwhile the Slate’s rear camera has an 8 MP sensor and can only shot 1080 videos.

Accessories

The iPad Pro has a clear advantage since it comes with Face ID. Meanwhile, Google’s Slate still uses fingerprints for authentication. However, the Slate comes with two USB-C, while the iPad Pro only has one.

However, there is no comparison between the Pixelbook Pen and the Apple Pencil 2. The Apple Pencil 2 is the clear winner, since it has received several enhancements. The only thing they have in common is that they are both sold separately.

Summary

To sum it up, there are two iPad Pro options:

There are four models for the Pixel Slate:

iPad Pro is the winner of this battle, although these tablets share numerous similar features. In the close future we might see this rivalry develop even more.
