Nintendo Creators Program, which rolled out in an attempt to moderate what Nintendo content people are showing on YouTube, will shut down on March 20th, 2019. The Japanese entertainment company would replace the program with a new guideline for YouTubers, which might have a significant impact on Nintendo content on Google’s streaming platform.
“We are ending the Nintendo Creators Program (NCP) to make it easier for content creators to make and monetize videos that contain Nintendo game content. We will no longer ask creators to submit their videos to the NCP, and creators can continue showing their passion for Nintendo by following Nintendo’s guidelines,” Nintendo stated.
While the new guidelines are not hard to respect, Nintendo is, surprisingly, asking content creators to be more creative in the videos showing Nintendo content such as games. According to the Japanese companies, YouTubers must not upload videos with Nintendo games without a creative input and their own commentaries.
Nintendo Creators Program Shuts Down To Be Replaced With A New Set Of Guidelines
“We encourage you to create videos that include your creative input and commentary. Videos and images that contain mere copies of Nintendo Game Content without creative input or commentary are not permitted. You may, however, post gameplay videos and screenshots using Nintendo system features, such as the Capture Button on Nintendo Switch, without additional input or commentary,” Nintendo’s new guidelines reads.
On the other hand, the Japanese company will only allow content creators to use official Nintendo content or promotional materials the company is officially releasing.
“You are only permitted to use Nintendo Game Content that has been officially released, or from promotional materials officially released by Nintendo (such as product trailers or Nintendo Directs),” Nintendo stated.
The full guidelines are available here for everyone to read them and take notice of the changes in the Nintendo Creators Program which will shut down in March 2019.
