Possible release date

Since Gearbox didn’t offer an official release date we can only speculate on this subject. Some sources claim that Borderlands 3 may arrive in 2019. An announcement during E3 2019 followed by a release date is likely to happen according to report released by publisher Take Two in the spring of 2017.

The lead writer left the studio

The lead writer for the franchise left the studio in 2017 due to severe health problems. It is impossible to tell if he managed to complete the main story before living. It can be believed that his departure may have contributed to the delay of the title.

Improved looks

During a tech demo Randy Pitchford noted that the current generations of consoles will allow the designers to push the gameplay experience to new heights. Massive graphical improvements are expected but the game will keep its iconic identity when it comes to looks and art direction.

Setting

While Pandora was an enjoyable playground a brand new location would bring a breath of fresh air to the franchise. A new world called Promethea has been referenced by the official Borderlands Twitter account and it may be featured in the game.

New faces

It is likely that Borderlands 3 will feature a new rag-tag gang of heroes that will save the day while getting rich in the process.

Limited exclusivity

Rumors claim that Microsoft has obtained the marketing rights for the game but this may be limited to some additional advertising and minor rewards for Xbox One users.

While the official announcement and most details about the game remain shrouded in mystery it is almost certain that it will come out at one point in the future.
