NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 to Come with GDDR5X Memory

We’ll soon take a look at the new variant of the GeForce GTX 1070 graphic card, that’s supposed to have a different memory design. As per a report from Vidoecards, an NVIDIA partner was actually the one to leak their upcoming GTX 1070 model, which supports GDDR5X memory.

Custom models with GDDR5X Memory

We all know that this was going to happen sooner or later, because the NVIDIA board partners were shipping GeForce GTX 1060 models – and it’s been a while now. Apparently, the GeForce GTX 1070 was the only GP104 which was still using GDDR5 memory – but that’s not the case anymore.

ZOTAC was the one to leak GeForce GTX 1070 graphics card – this one has 8 GB GDDR5X memory. There is one change. However, the GeForce GTX 1070 AMP that’s GDDR5X runs with 8 Gbps worth of speed, but GDDR5X is actually known for overclocking the abilities. Clients can tune it to run it at even higher clock speeds if we are to compare it to GDDR5.

What are other specs

This card comes with the same 1920 CUDA Cores; the clocks are kept at 1607 MHz base and 1797 MHz boost. The card gets powered by dual 8-pin connectors and its suggested board power is of 250W. We don’t know for sure the price yet, and we’ll have to wait a bit until it’s officially launched.

Why is NVIDIA doing this?

We all know about the excess inventory of Pascal GPUs, that NVIDIA and their partners have. We also know which one they are: GP104 and GP106 GPUs. There is only one way to reduce the inventory, and that is to make the products more pleasant to the people.
