China Has Banned Fortnite, The World’s Most Popular Battle Royale Game

Chinese Fortnite fans are in trouble as, reportedly, China has banned Fortnite, the world’s most popular Battle Royale game, due to blood, gore, and vulgar content, according to some reports that emerged online today.

Fortnite is the most popular and appreciated Battle Royale title in the world and gathers millions of players from all over the world. So far, not even PUBG, another famous Battle Royale game, could not surpass it.

The Fortnite ban in China occurred as one of the measures taken by the newly formed Online Ethics Review Committee, a body of the Chinese government, created to review video games, as well as other content, and to decide which of them fits the country’s strict rules.

However, Fortnite is not alone in this situation, as the Committee also prohibited PUBG, H1Z1, and Paladins. Also, other video games such as League of Legends, Overwatch, World of Warcraft will have to take corrective actions to fit China’s rules.

China Has Banned Fortnite, The World’s Most Popular Battle Royale Game

As I’ve mentioned above, Fortnite and PUBG, among other titles, have been banned due to blood, gore, and vulgar content. On the other hand, dozens of other games have been cataloged as “corrective actions,” meaning that those games, including League of Legends, Overwatch, World of Warcraft, and Diablo, among others, would have to remove the conflictual content not to get banned eventually.

The list with the games was released on Reddit. However, the Chinese government did not confirm the news, so, until we receive something official in this regard, we should take this information with a grain of salt.

In short, reportedly, China has banned Fortnite and PUBG, two of the most popular video games of the moment, along with Paladins, H1Z1, and Ring Of Elysium, among others. Other games need corrections to fit the strict Chinese rules.
