Google’s Fuchsia OS Would Soon Support Android Apps

We are a few years apart from seeing Google’s Fuchsia OS running on smartphones, tablet, and other devices, but when that would happen, we’ll be able to run Android apps with Fuchsia OS. According to 9to5Google, a new file posted on the website of the Android’s open source project reads that “these targets are used to build ART for Fuchsia.”

That would mean Google is trying to develop a new and unique variant of Android RunTime or ART that would be able to run Android apps on the upcoming operating system, Fuchsia OS. “They differ from usual Android devices as they do not target specific hardware. They will produce a fuchsia package (.far file),” the memo spotted by 9to5Google added.

According to the memo, users would be able to install the platform’s version of Android Runtime on every device that runs Google’s Fuchsia OS.

Google’s Fuchsia OS Would Soon Support Android Apps

From what Google has revealed regarding its new Fuchsia OS, we learned that the future operating system would run on computers, including both desktops and laptops, smartphone, tablet, and other devices. In the future, Fuchsia OS could replace Android and Chrome OS, as well.

The decision to make Fuchsia OS support Android apps was a smart one from Google as it would make it much easier for users to switch from Android-based devices to those running Fuchsia since they will still enjoy the Android apps they use regularly.

In short, according to 9to5Google, Google’s Fuchsia OS would soon support Android apps thanks to a special Android RunTime (ART) that the giant Internet company would release soon, and which would be installable on the future Fuchsia OS-based devices to allow them to run Android apps. At the moment, we don’t know much about this Fuchsia OS and when it would roll out on devices, but the news sounds excellent for Google’s future operating system.
