Two New HTC VR Headsets, Revealed At CES 2019

CES 2019 has been a great event so far with dozens of products revealed. HTC was also present at the Congress, and the company unveiled two new HTC VR headsets – HTC Cosmos and HTC Vive Pro Eye. Out of the two, the most interesting one would be HTC Cosmos, a VR device which is dedicated for both home and mobile use.

According to HTC, its Cosmos VR headset is the one to compete directly with the  Oculus Quest, as it’s promising to offer “absolute comfort, easy setup, and will require no external tracking,” as HTC reported.

HTC reported that its Cosmos VR headset would have “the capability to be powered by more than a traditional gaming PC,” although that’s a vague statement and the company did not offer further details.

“Introducing Vive Cosmos, a new premium PC VR system, and a vision of the virtual future. It conforms to your wants, your needs with surprising ease and versatility. Whether you’re new to VR or familiar, a fantastic voyage awaits. HTC Vive Cosmos goes beyond everything you could want in one device,” the official description of the device reads.

In addition to all that, the new HTC Cosmos VR headset will also come out with the new Vive controllers which “work seamlessly with VIVE tracking system. The gamer-friendly, versatile design [of the new VR controllers] is useful in all sorts of VR content,” HTC states.

On the other hand, HTC Vive Pro Eye is pretty much similar to the Cosmos VR headset, also boasting dual front-facing cameras, but it implements the eye-tracking tech.

Both Cosmos and Vive Pro Eye HTC VR headsets would come out later this year but not before the tech company delivers development kits to the devs during the upcoming months.
