Why is this game trending and the said to be “one of the fastest growing games in 2019.” What is Dota Auto Chess and why is it so popular?
You have surely heard of Dota Auto Chess if you are part of the Dota 2 community. Today, Matthew Bailey, the esports group Team Secret director wrote on Twitter that this recently released game is very popular and that “the majority of the gaming industry have [sic.] no idea it exists.”
Check out some of the screenshots in the game to get an idea of how the game looks.
Dota Auto Chess
If you don’t know much about Dota Auto Chess, it’s alright. The game has been launched on 4 January 2019 on Steam, and it’s a custom game of the popular MOBA – Dota 2, which is why it lured such a huge community. Don’t be fooled by the name “chess” in the title. The only thing that resembles Chess is the background that is checkered in black and white.
Dota Auto Chess has been created by Chinese developer Drodo Studios, and it focuses on strategy. The game can be played by eight players, and the last one standing (with 100 HP) will win. Players get to face off on a map and each round they purchase pieces that they will place on that map and face off creeps on the battlefield. As the pieces begin to die, your HP is lowered.
The game is very different from the Dota 2 gameplay, and even though it looks fairly simple, it has many races, classes, and player synergy. You’ll see what we’re talking about once you play the game, which is free to play on Steam.
Why Is Dota Auto Chess So Popular?
As to why is Dota Auto Chess the fastest growing game in 2019, the statistics show that the game has 710K players that subscribed to it and it also has over 100K concurrent users.
Dota Auto Chess had also been added to the Dota 2 client panel a day ago, and many players and Dota 2 Twitch streamers have begun playing the game and not stopping!
Are the numbers inflated, is the game buggy? Maybe, but with a little patience and feedback from the players, Dota Auto Chess could be a new way to play Dota 2.
