When it comes to the upcoming Nvidia graphics there are plenty of rumours flying around. For example, the most popular assumption was that a new GTX 11-series was on its way. However, a new name has been circulating recently. Some sources say that Nvidia might be working on a GeForce GTX 1660 Ti.
If you take a look at the name you can immediately see that it differs from what we were used so far. Until now we had the GTX 660, GTX 760, GTX 960 and GTX 1060. If we take a look at this names, it wouldn’t make much sense to see a big jump to GTX 1660 Ti. Meanwhile, some believe that it is more likely that GTX 1660 Ti is the actual name that will be used by the company.
When it comes to the specs of the so called GeForce GTX 1660 Ti, it has been reported that the graphics card will come with 1535 CUDA cures, 6 GB of GDDR6, as well as a TU116 GPU. By taking a look at this specs we can see that the graphics card is supposed to come with quite some improvements.
The TU116 GPU is very likely to come with the next graphics card as it is part of the recent Turing architecture of Nvidia. However, if we take a look at the RTX 2060 we can see that it comes with 1920 CUDA cores, which is more than the number of CUDA cores that is supposed to come with the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti.
In the specs for the GTX 1660 Ti we don’t hear anything about the RTX cores, and we do not know whether the Tensor Cores will be featured. This is something that could happen in order to lower the prices.
