Just recently, Nintendo updated the status of Metroid Prime 4. According to Nintendo’s senior managing executive officer Shinya Takahashi, the Japanese entertainment company restarted the Metroid Prime 4 development, as Retro Studios took over, coming back to work on the upcoming title in the franchise.
Retro Studios is a Texas-based company which worked on the first three previous entries in the Metroid Prime series. Now, they’re back to develop the fourth installment in the franchise, Metroid Prime 4, which is also one of the most-anticipated Nintendo-published games.
“Although this is very regrettable we must let you know that the current development progress has not reached the standards we seek in a sequel to Metroid Prime series. Nintendo always strives for the highest quality in our games, and in our development phase, we challenge ourselves and confront whether the game is living up to that quality on a daily basis,” said Shinya Takahashi in a recent video.
Retro Studios Took Over the Metroid Prime 4 Development And Nintendo Restarted the Project
“From this perspective, we have determined that the current development status of Metroid Prime 4 is very challenged, and we had to make a difficult decision as a development team. We have decided to re-examine the development structure and change it,” added Takahashi.
Also, according to Shinya Takahashi, Kensuke Tanabe “will work in trust and collaboration with the studio that developed the original Metroid Prime series, Retro Studios and restart development from the beginning.” By doing so, Nintendo ensures itself that Metroid Prime 4 will be a sequel that would meet the expectations of the gamers.
“It will be a long road until the next time we will be able to update you on the development progress, and development time will be extensive. However, we will continue developing the game so that when it is completed, it will stand shoulder to shoulder with the past Metroid Prime series titles,” added Shinya Takahashi.
Metroid Prime 4 would come out for Nintendo Switch, but we don’t know yet when the development of this title would finish.
