According to Shuntaro Furukawa, Nintendo’s CEO, the Japanese entertainment company plans to add some new features to Nintendo Switch Online to attract more gamers than it does now.
Nintendo Switch Online is the Japanese company’s online gaming platform on which they release new games for Nintendo Switch, as well as the classic NES video games which are currently available for free for members. However, Nintendo plans to add more features to the Nintendo Switch Online platform to attract more gamers.
“We are currently planning ways to boost the appeal of the service on a yearly basis. We will announce more details as soon as we are ready,” Shuntaro Furukawa said. In North America, Nintendo Switch Online service starts from $4.99 per month.

“We are preparing various new offerings for consumers who subscribe to the service,” added Shinya Takahashi, Nintendo’s director and senior managing executive officer.
“While the Nintendo 3DS market has contracted faster than we anticipated, currently many of the consumers who newly purchase Nintendo 3DS are consumers purchasing Nintendo 3DS as their first game system (…) Demand still remains from the parents looking to purchase a first game system for their kids. That is why our basic policy is to proceed with both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 3DS in our dedicated video game platform business,” also said Shuntaro Furukawa.
In short, Nintendo’s executives are going to implement new features to Nintendo Switch Online to attract gamers. Nintendo head, Shinya Takahashi, also said that “we are preparing various new offerings for consumers who subscribe to the service.”
“In response to the same question, Furukawa also mentioned that a growing percentage of Nintendo Switch owners are opting to sign up for the company’s shorter Switch Online subscriptions, instead of the 12-month individual and family subscriptions that were more popular when the service launched,” Mobile Syrup added.
