Rockstar Games is not releasing games very often, but when it does, it only launches very successful titles. The same applies to GTA 6. Even more, recent rumors suggest that GTA 6 might come out only after PlayStation 5 and Xbox Scarlett become available.
If we look at the most successful game launched by Rockstar Games, we’ll see that Red Dead Redemption 2 rolled out eight years after the first installment in the franchise, while GTA 5 (the most popular and appreciated game Rockstar Games has ever released, so far) came out five years after GTA 4.
And the great success of GTA 5 and GTA Online might be the reasons why Rockstar Games decided not to rush it with the development and release of GTA 6. So, here we are, in 2019, almost at six years after the launch of GTA 5, wondering when the next Grand Theft Auto installment would come out. And it seems that we’ll still have to wait about two more years until GTA 6 rolls out.
GTA 6 Might Come Out Only After PlayStation 5 and Xbox Scarlett Become Available
According to some job ads, Rockstar Games India looks for a designer to develop “next-generation worlds for some exciting upcoming projects.” Also, Rockstar Games New York wants a Technical Face Developer and Rockstar Games Toronto looks for a Senior Technical Artist. Besides, Rockstar Games also stated in the description of the job ads that it focuses on Face Motion Capture and Animation.
The before-mentioned job ads suggest that GTA 6 might be a game for next-generation systems, meaning that it would launch only after PlayStation 5 and Xbox Scarlett become available. But when would that happen?
According to Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO, John Kodera, in a statement from last year, PlayStation 5 would not come out before 2021. Recent rumors, however, suggested that a 2020 release of Sony’s next-gen console might also be possible. As for Xbox Scarlett (also known as Xbox Two), Microsoft said that the console went come out before mid-2020.
Accordingly, we guess that Rockstar Games would want to launch GTA 6 when both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Scarlett are on the market, so we might have to wait for at least two years before enjoying the next Grand Theft Auto installment.
