God of War Will Not Receive a DLC, Disappointing The Fans

God of War is an action-adventure video game released on April 2018 by Sony Interactive and developed by Santa Monica Studio for PlayStation 4 console. God of War is the eight chronologically game released in the series, and it isn’t based on Greek mythology like the previous ones.

God of War is based on Norse mythology, and it’s set in ancient Norway, in the realm of Midgard. This game has two main characters, Kratos – the former Greek God of War, and Atreus- son of Kratos.

The news we have from Cory Barlog, the game director, is that God of War will not receive an expansion, despite its commercial and success. Barlog first posted on Twitter some teasers about the new reveals coming for God of War’s anniversary celebration. The first tweet could have been misunderstood, so in the next tweet, he mentioned clear that no DLC will come to the game, and that he’s sorry about that.

God of War will not get a DLC any time soon

We know that in honor of the fans, and celebrating their anniversary, Santa Monica Studio has a week celebration. So we could access for free a God of War Anniversary character for PS4 avatar, and a PS4 dynamic theme that brings the players back Kratos and Atreus in the Lake of Nine. Even if you own the game or not, they will be found in the PlayStation Store for free.

However, the idea of a DLC in God of War was discussed by Barlog this year, but he considered too ambitious, even if he would love to do it. Barlog had the idea of doing the DLC like a stand-alone release, similar to The Last of Us 1’s Left Behind, or Uncharted Lost Legacy, that is big enough to be on their own.
