PS4 is the undisputed winner of the current console generation, but it seems that Microsoft won’t go down without a fight. The company will launch a cheaper version of the popular Xbox One S, the Xbox One S All Digital which will come with no disc drive. Also, it will sell with Minecraft, Forza Horizon 3, and Sea of Thieves for free.
As expected, some sacrifices were made, and the primary victim was the Blu-ray disc drive. Some sources claim that the console will be released in Germany with a price tag of €229.
A leaked marketing image features a box which showcases the Xbox One S and a controller. The console and the accessory will come in an engaging white and black style and the text ‘’disc-free gaming’’ is written in several languages.
Xbox One S All Digital comes with Minecraft, Forza Horizon 3, and Sea of Thieves for free
Called Xbox One S All Digital, this particular model will retain the standard 1TB hard drive. Those who will acquire the console will have to purchase games from the digital store (since the console cannot read a physical disc).
The bundle will include three codes which can be used to redeem free copies of Minecraft, Forza Horizon 3 and Sea of Thieves. Xbox Live subscribers will receive free games each month, and you can also opt for an Xbox Game Pass subscription.
Xbox One S All Digital price tags
It is likely that the price will be different in each region. On the Microsoft website, the console is available for €299, but you can also find it on Amazon for a considerably lower price tag of €200. Since Microsoft prefers to use the same price points across the world, it is likely that the console will cost $229 in the US.
While most console gamers tend to buy physical games some customers will enjoy the option of purchasing a model which could last for a long time since there is no need to worry about scratches on the disk or reading errors.
Microsoft is quite interested in the creation of a feasible service model, and the Xbox brand is already in a transition phase as it is no longer exclusive to the consoles. It remains to be seen if the new Xbox One S All Digital will attract a large number of buyers, but since it’s cheaper and will come with Minecraft, Forza Horizon 3, and Sea of Thieves for free, some of the fans of those titles will definitely be attracted to purchase the unit.
