A new game mode in League of Legends will be introduced in PBE this month! It’s called Teamfight Tactics (TFT), and according to League of Legends’ new post on their website, it will be a “round-based strategy game that pits you against seven opponents in a free-for-all race to build a powerful team that fights on your behalf. Your goal: Be the last person standing.”
When will TFT be available?
TFT will hit live servers during patch 9.13, probably on June 25 – which is quite some great news!
What Teamfight Tactics Looks Like
Looking at the image below, I must say it’s all I’ve ever wanted for all games: a nod to the turn-based fight we had in Heroes game (Heroes III will always have a special place in my heart!)
How does the game mode work?
While the image looks like Heroes III a bit, the combat is different.
You will have to spend gold in the store before the fight to recruit champions. Your team of champions will travel to an opponent’s board, and the battle will begin. Position your champs wisely, and they will attack, move, cast spells on their own! At the end of the round, you will earn gold which you can spend in the next rounds. Losing a fight will lower your health, and in the end, the last one standing is the winner.
Why this mode in League of Legends?
“We’ve always loved strategy games and recently we’ve gotten into the new auto-battler genre—folks around the office have been playing an insane amount of Dota Auto Chess in particular. We love it, and it actually got us inspired to create something new as a mode in League.”
We can play TFT ranked “around patch 9.14,” after some balancing and bug squashing.
Along with TFT, we will get to see new avatars in TFT called League: Little Legends – they can dance, emote, have various animations and are extremely fun to look at. Players get a one-time-only free Legend, and can buy others for 750 RP each. Here are the first six ones:
You can also see League: Little Legends in the Howling Abyss.
I don’t know about you, but I will definitely hop right into this game mode!
