Teamfight Tactics (or TFT) is finally on the live servers with Patch 9.13, and by now, we’ve all probably played more TFT than SR. But how do we know what champions to pick? If we’ve already solved this mystery, why do we pick the ones we saw in TFT cheat sheets and how do we make them work with what we get on in the roster?
We’ll take a look at the 5 most powerful League of Legends champions out of the pool of 50 ones available in TFT and explain their pros and cons. If you want more tips on what champions to choose and how to make them synergize with others or what items to build, go to out Teamfight Tactics page.
Aurelion Sol, The Star Forger
ASol is still at the top of the food chain, and if you build your team around him, make sure you have 2+ Sorcerers around, like Kassadin, which is easy to get early in the game.
Aurelion Sol also synergizes well with Sorcerer, Wild, Dragon, and Yordle if you cannot go with the best synergy – Sorcerer. If you have 6 Sorcerers on the board, you’ll definitely win. If you get 2 Yordles that are Sorcerers and get to have 6 of them on the board, you’ll have a great time at dodging opponents attacks (50% of them).
If you play versus an Aurelion Sol, you can go Dragons just by adding Shyvana to the mix – this also goes well with Wilds.
Try to add one of the following items – AP/AS items are great:
Guinsoo’s Rageblade, Statikk Shiv, Spear of Shojin, Rapid Firecannon, Rabadon’s Deathcap
Draven, The Glorious Executioner
Although some would say that Draven is no longer that OP, he still makes a difference when it comes to winning matches. Make sure you have him teamed up with Imperials, Blademasters, Glacials, or Wilds. If you get him right away, you can easily build synergies around him.
Considering Draven is a Blademaster, you might want to add others like him, but Aatrox is squishy, and Fiora is not that strong. Nonetheless, you can use Blade of the Ruined King to make another champion become a Blademaster.
If you go Nobles, your Darven will surely survive, and with 3 Nobles he’ll get the buff.
Glacial is easy when you put the Frozen Mallet on Draven to turn him into a Glacial. Pair him with a Glacial to freeze your enemies.
Imperials are very good, but you must make sure you get Darius and Swain – the latter is 5 cost and very rare.
Give him one of the following items:
Guinsoo’s Rageblade, Rapid Firecannon, Infinity Edge, Bloodthirster, Sword of the Divine.
Darius, The Hand of Noxus
This guy is a great tank that also carries the game. Match him with Draven and win the game as Imperials and if you get lucky enough, you could get Swain! Give him damage and attack speed items, or go for an even tankier build by choosing one of these items:
Hextech Gunblade, Locket of the Iron Solari.
Kayle, The Righteous
Kayle is not on the first spot before Aurelion Sol because she’s very rare and shows up late in the game. She has the highest attack speed in the game can repeatedly turn allies invincible. If you go 6 Nobles, not even Aurelion Sol will be able to blast your composition.
Give Kayle one of these items:
Redemption, Seraph’s Embrace
Swain, The Noxian Grand General
Another very rare champion you should grab when the opportunity rises is Swain. Go for Imperials or Demons to give him the double synergy.
Give him one of these items and watch your enemies cry:
Rabadon’s Deathcap, Morellonomicon
Other important champions in TFT
Morgana, which is nearly as OP as ASol if you add AP items and synergize her with Demons and Sorcerers, Nidalee and Gnar (paired with other Wilds), the Glacial/Brawler Volibear paired with Sejuani.
