Despite the difficulties encountered in relations with the USA, Huawei will continue to launch smartphones at the usual pace, and the P50 series will debut in the expected period, according to new rumors. It seems that the P50 series will adopt a new strategy, which will integrate three models, but we will not receive a Lite model, at least not by name. Instead, two of the models will be superior.
The Huawei P50 series will integrate a standard model and two superior models
According to Teme, a well-known leaker on Twitter, we can expect a launch of the Huawei P50 series towards the end of March. The P50 series will include three models, as we have become accustomed to in recent years: a standard P50, a P50 Pro and a P50 Pro +. Unlike in previous years, however, the P50 model will no longer be a real flagship, but will integrate more modest components, say the current rumors.
For example, the Huawei P50 will be based on the Kirin 9000E chipset, a slightly more modest version, which uses a neural processor with a minus core and a graphics chip with two cores minus. In normal use and even in many demanding applications, these changes will not bring big differences in performance. However, this chipset could offer the standard P50 model at a lower price.
The P50 Pro and P50 Pro + models benefit from the “complete” Kirin 9000 chipset, the same one we met on the Huawei Mate 40 models from last autumn. The P50 Pro will take the place of the current P40, while the P50 Pro + will replace the P40 Pro.
It seems that Huawei has completed the phones, and the latest prototypes will remain as final. The company is now sending them to factories for mass production. Teme reports that the new generation is adopting a new design, and Huawei will focus in the promotion campaign on quality displays, a new high-performance camera system and, last but not least, the performance of phones in advanced video games.
We don’t know anything about prices yet, but previous models have been launched at prices among other manufacturers in the market. The Mate 40 Pro model started at 1,100 euros, for example.
