Telegram co-founder and CEO Pavel Durov said people who own an iPhone are Apple digital slaves.
He made the statement after the New York Times reported on how Apple had given Chinese authorities access to its data centers in Guiyang.
Durov said the American giant is efficient in selling “outdated hardware at a premium price to customers trapped in its ecosystem.”
“Every time I use an iPhone to test our iOS app, I feel like I’m going back to the Middle Ages,” said co-founder Telegram. According to him, Apple smartphones come with 60 Hz refresh displays, given that many Android phone models have a 120 Hz screen.
Telegram boss: Apple has a totalitarian approach
“The fact that you have an iPhone makes you a digital slave of Apple,” said co-founder Telegram. He continued: “No wonder Apple’s totalitarian approach is so appreciated by the Chinese Communist Party.”
Durov also criticized the fact that users cannot download applications from outside the App Store. On Android, Telegram offers the direct download of the application. This version receives faster updates and fewer restrictions.
