Due to a distributed denial of service assault that was launched against Blizzard on Sunday, problems for several of the company’s games appeared. Players of Diablo IV have been unable to log in to the game for over six hours, which has caused them frustration. What exactly is going to happen with the game?!
Blizzard has issued a statement in which it explains:
We’re seeing some unusually long queue times for Diablo IV; […] we are working on this, and we appreciate your patience as we work to get everyone into Sanctuary. Please follow @BlizzardCSEU_EN on Twitter for further updates.
Up until around 11:30, the notification could be seen in the program that Blizzard uses to start its games. But since then, it has been taken away (what on earth could have been the reason?!), which has been replaced with an alert that is still displayed on Diablo IV’s launcher page. The alert informs players that there is a possibility that they will have to wait some time before they can go on and play again.
On the other hand, Adam Fletcher, director of worldwide community development for Diablo, stated on Twitter at 11:33 that the login difficulties that have been affecting Diablo IV along with another installment, Diablo Immortal, should be rectified.
If you try to log in from South Africa, you will get a loading screen that states, “Queued for game — start game pending.” This screen will cycle continually and cannot be closed. Some local players have reported that they have been able to log into the game but that they are suffering extreme levels of latency as well as rubber-banding, which makes the game nearly impossible to play.
Other concerns include the following:
Downdetector reveals that a considerable number of users have been experiencing a Blizzard Battle.net outage since about 08:00 this morning
Several gamers on the Battle.net forums reported that they had been unable to check in for the previous six to eight hours.
What are your reactions and opinions to such a disappointing turn of events for Diablo IV?
