Ads are pretty much all over the internet these days, and while we can’t judge the companies’ interest in making a buck or two, it can surely become annoying beyond belief when ads interrupt you from doing something, anything, online. Listening to music is one of those activities that we can’t stand getting interrupted by ads, as well as simply opening a web page.

Ads appearing in Google Chrome don’t represent anything new, but that doesn’t mean that we have to comply. There are ways to get rid of them, which is why we bring this article. Chrome is the most popular browser on the planet, and so many people using it clearly know something. That’s confirmation that Google’s browser is highly capable of impressive things, with or without ads.

Use an ad-blocking extension for Chrome

There are extensions that you can use in Google Chrome to get rid of ads for you. But that’s not all, as you need to know that Google also has a browser setting that can block certain ads. In other words, ads are not here to stay, as we can clearly get rid of them, at least if we’re using Google Chrome to navigate online.

AdBlock is one of those extensions that can get rid of ads appearing in Google Chrome, so let’s see what we need to know about it:

  1. Launch Google Chrome.
  2. Head over to the AdBlock website at getadblock.com.
  3. Select the “GET ADBLOCK NOW” option.
  4. Once the extension’s page opens up, you have to select “Add to Chrome.”
  5. The AdBlock extension should now be added automatically and appear in the extensions area. In the top right area of your browser, you should see a small red stop sign with a hand in it.

Block ads directly from Chrome’s settings

Google Chrome has a built-in feature that allows you to get rid of ads while navigating online, which automatically means that it’s not necessary to install third-party software to get the job done. How great is that?

Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Launch the Google Chrome browser.
  2. Access the three-dot menu of Google Chrome: click on the three-dot icon that appears once Chrome is open. The icon is placed next to the browser’s address bar and in the upper-right corner.
  3. Find ‘Advanced’ in the settings page: once you’re in the settings page, you have to scroll to the bottom until you find the “Advanced” option. You will have to select it.
  4. Select ‘site settings’: scroll down until you find ‘site settings,’ which will appear near the bottom of the ‘Privacy & Security’ tab group.
  5. Select ‘Ads’: Once you find ‘Ads’ and select it, find and select the toggle button that says “Blocked on sites that show intrusive or misleading ads.”
  6. Congrats! You’re done blocking ads on Chrome using the browser’s own settings.

Modern browsers usually try to do their best when it comes to blocking ads that become too frustrating for the users. Don’t be surprised if the devs from Google will implement even more powerful ways to overcome ads for those who use the Chrome browser. Stay tuned for more info on the subject!`
