There’s no denying that a laptop/desktop PC is usually much more powerful than a smartphone, but still, our little device has some pretty unique features that we can’t normally use from a PC. But it doesn’t necessarily have to happen that way, as there are ways to connect a phone to a PC in order to gain access to the little gadget’s functionalities directly from our larger computer.

A few years ago, it seemed impossible to connect our smartphones to the PC in order to send SMSs, respond to calls, or play Android games from our PC. But guess what? Technology never stops evolving, as well as our natural desire as human beings to improve our comfort. Isn’t it frustrating sometimes to reach that smartphone from the table to respond to a call if you’re working on a project on your laptop, for instance? Luckily for us all, there are ways to solve such problems once and for all.

How can you connect your Android phone to a PC

There’s a very easy method to connect your Android phone to a PC in order to get them both to collaborate with one another efficiently. There’s a dedicated app out there that will pretty much do all the work for you, but you still need to be careful with certain steps.

First of all, you need to make sure that both your PC and Android phone are powered on and connected to your WiFi network. It’s important that both of them are connected to the same WiFi network!

Once you have that done, feel free to follow these easy steps:

  1. Head over to the Settings menu and select Bluetooth & devices.
  2. Select the Your Phone option.
  3. Select the button that says Open Your Phone, and then the Phone Link app will appear as a pop-up.
  4. Smash the Get started button.
  5. Confirm the account that you’re planning to use and select Continue.
  6. Head over to your Android phone’s Chrome browser and enter this link in the address bar: www.aka.ms/yourpc.
  7. As you open the link, Google Play will appear. At this point, you will have to install an app that’s known as Link to Windows.
  8. Select the Install button.
  9. Start the app and select the button that says Link your phone and PC.

What Android smartphones can be connected to the PC?

If you’ve also been wondering if any Android phone can be connected to the PC, well, first of all, welcome to the club! If the Link to Windows app is installed and working on your phone, you can be almost certain that you can connect that phone to a laptop or desktop PC. Pretty much any phone that runs on Android 9 and beyond qualifies for such a purpose. Considering that we’re talking about an Android version that came out five years ago, we can be sure that the vast majority of Android phones on the market qualify for the demand.

Perhaps the most important aspect of connecting a phone to the PC remains the power to easily transfer files between the two devices. Surely, we’ve all been in that kind of situation when we needed to transfer photos or videos from our phone to our PC as fast as possible. Video editing apps still work better on a laptop, which means that you need your video there to edit it. And how else could you transfer it better from your phone than by connecting the two devices to one another?
