Not getting your sound notifications anymore on your smartphone can be extremely frustrating, as each and every one of us has urgent information waiting to arrive on our devices. In many situations, just a written notification is not enough, regardless of how much you might care about other people’s comfort.

Even on an old phone model such as Samsung’s Galaxy S7 device, which came out almost 8 years ago, sound notifications can be important. But sometimes, they fail to do their job, resulting in a lot of frustration for us. While going to a professional service with your phone is a good option, there are plenty of technical problems with smartphones that we can solve by ourselves at home. All you need is to pay a bit of attention.

Let’s see a few quick and easy possible fixes for not getting sound notifications on a Samsung Galaxy S7 anymore, as you can feel free to apply each one of them at a time:

Check the sound mode for notifications

The sound mode for notifications on your Samsung Galaxy S7 has to be enabled. To make sure that it’s activated, you simply need to head over to the Settings menu, access Sounds and Vibration, and ultimately tap on Sound, which you’ll find beneath the Sound mode.

Clear Cache and Data for notifications

It’s time to clear the cache and data for notifications on your Samsung Galaxy S7, as this move could do the trick for you and revive your sound notifications. Here are the necessary steps for this operation:

  1. Head over to the Settings menu
  2. Select the Apps option
  3. Select the Menu icon, which appears as three dots displayed at the top right part of the screen
  4. Select Show System Apps.
  5. Search Notification.
  6. Select Storage.
  7. Select the Clear Data and Cache option.

Clear Cache Partition

If you perform a wipe cache partition from time to time, it will remove the temporary files on your phone, and such a move can even restore the sound notifications for you.

Let’s see how it can be done:

  1. Press and hold the Power button on your phone until the Power menu appears, and then select Power Off
  2. Use the phone’s original Type-C cable to connect it to a PC
  3. Press and hold both the Power and the Volume buttons
  4. Release all the keys when the Android logo appears.
  5. Use the Volume Down button and tap on the “Wipe cache partition” option.
  6. Make selections by using the Power button.
  7. Once the process of wiping the cache is done, it’s time to select the “Reboot system” option by using the Power button.
  8. Restart the device by pressing the Power key.

Allow background activity for notifications

It’s also a good idea to allow notification services to use the phone’s battery in the background and carry out specific tasks. Here’s how it should be done:

  1. Head over to the Settings menu.
  2. Select Apps.
  3. Select the Menu icon that appears as three dots at the top right part of the screen.
  4. Select Show System Apps.
  5. Search Notification.
  6. Select Battery
  7. Activate the “Allow background activity.”
