The idea that we might not be alone in the Universe has haunted humanity for centuries, and it was just a matter of time until we started seeing such scenarios in movies, video games, and literature. Alien life should definitely be out there, somewhere, considering that the Universe is unfathomably huge.
There are tons of video games out there that exploit the possibility of humans encountering alien life someday. Who said that highly intelligent and highly advanced extraterrestrial life has to necessarily be friendly and willing to share the secrets of the Galaxy with us? Aliens could also be our sworn enemies, and that’s why we’re here, to propose some video games that have such dreadful scenarios:
XCOM 2
XCOM 2 is about a resistance movement against an alien occupation of the Earth, and players will have to do their best to tackle the extraterrestrial threat. In one way, you could say that the plot is similar to that of the Independence Day sci-fi blockbuster movie that had Will Smith in the main role.
As a player, you will be the commander of the XCOM organization, and your job will be to recruit and train soldiers, manage resources, and engage in tactical turn-based combat against a variety of alien species.
Destiny 2
In the Destiny 2 video game, you play as a Guardian, meaning a powerful warrior who needs to defend the human race from various alien threats. The gameplay is set in a vast and dynamic futuristic world in which players will have to team up with friends to explore planets infested by aliens, engage in battles against hordes of enemies, and unravel the mysteries of the Universe.
Halo: The Master Chief Collection
When we speak about fighting alien forces in video games, one of the first titles that pop into the mind is usually from the renowned Halo series. However, when it comes to “Halo: The Master Chief Collection,” it’s something different. That’s because this title brings together the iconic first-person shooter games of the series into one single comprehensive package. As a player, you will have to get in the shoes of Master Chief, a supersoldier known as a Spartan, as he needs to fight the Covenant, meaning a formidable alliance of extraterrestrial species. The goal is to save the human race and uncover some ancient mysteries.
Prey
“Prey” is a game that takes the player on a long journey aboard the Talos I space station, where your job will be to uncover the truth behind a mysterious extraterrestrial invasion. As a player, you will get the chance to use combat, stealth, and creative problem-solving to survive against shape-shifting aliens such as Typhon.
Alien: Isolation
“Alien: Isolation” is set in the terrifying Universe of the famous “Alien” franchise, as you will have to dive into an immersive survival horror experience if you choose to play the game. You will control Amanda Ripley, the daughter of Ellen Ripley, and you will have to navigate the dark corridors of a deserted space station while you are haunted by a Xenomorph alien.
“Alien: Isolation” is known for captivating gameplay, atmospheric tension, and stunning graphics. If you’re a fan of the “Alien” series, playing this game is a “must”!
Destiny 2 has a lot to offer, such as first-person shooting, RPG elements, and cooperative gameplay. In other words, you are free to grab a friend and start playing Destiny 2 together.
