However, to be eligible to download and play Halo 5 for free, you should be a member of the Xbox Live Gold program. You should remember that Xbox Live Gold comes as a premium membership program which costs $9.99 per month. For a whole year subscription, you should pay $59.99.
Halo 5 Is Free For This Weekend on Xbox One
The Halo team made the announcement of the new Halo 5 promotion on Twitter. “Xbox Live Gold members can play Halo 5 for free today through Sunday as part of Microsoft’s Free Play Days. Jump in and join the Master Chief for an action-packed weekend,” the Halo team said.
To make this special offer even more interesting for Halo fans, the Halo team is also set to giveaway double XP throughout the weekend. “while the fun-time playlists Holiday Fiesta and Castle Wars are in rotation,” as GameSpot reported.
The Holiday Fiesta, at first, was a holiday-themed mode to celebrate the winter holidays. Accordingly, this playlist features “snow-themed” variants of Halo 5 arena maps. For its part, Castle Wars a massive capture the flag mode in which up to 16 players can join.
In other news, the next title in the Halo franchise, the so-called Halo Infinite, is currently in the works. Even though we don’t know much about it, we know that it’s a Microsoft-exclusive title, and it would launch on Xbox One and PC.
