Sony just announced that, finally, PlayStation 4 cross-platform play with Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC for Rocket League is available. Now, gamers on the before-mentioned platforms can matchmake with or against each other in the Casual, Competitive and Extra game modes in Rocket League.
“To make sure that Cross-Platform play is enabled (it is by default), head to the Main Menu, select Options and then make sure the Cross-Platform Play box is checked in the Gameplay tab. And that’s all there is to it. You are now ready to play against gamers on other platforms across the world,” reported Sony on its PlayStation blog.
Besides, Sony revealed that in the next update, the company would roll out what it calls “cross-platform party” mode that permits users to team up with friends on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC and play Rocket League.

“Should you want to play with friends on other platforms before cross-platform parties release, however, you can! Just select Play from the Main Menu, then Private Match, followed by Create or Join Private Match, and you’re set from there,” Sony added on its PlayStation blog.
The implementation of the cross-platform play for PlayStation 4 Rocket League title is excellent news for the game’s fans. Now, PS4 gamers can play Rocket League with their friends on other gaming platforms such as Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
Rocket League, however, is the second PlayStation 4 title to receive cross-platform play. The first one was Fortnite, the famous Battle Royale title developed by Epic Games. Until Fortnite got cross-play, Sony has been reticent to implement that feature for PlayStation 4 games due to the fierce competition between it and Microsoft’s Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
