eSports are becoming increasingly more popular in recent years. Now, as Fortnite is the most popular game of the moment, it could not miss from eSports leagues. While there are already many tournaments of Fortnite, Epic Games will sign even more eSports partnerships in 2019.
The first deal has already been made between Epic Games and ESL. The agreement focuses on an upcoming Fortnite tournament with a prize pool of $500,000.
“Fortnite is a global game, and there are amazing, passionate players all around the globe. Partnering with ESL in Katowice gives us the chance to showcase some of these incredible international competitors,” said Rob Hudson from Epic Games.
“Epic Games is partnering with ESL for a $500,000 Fortnite tournament at Katowice. Epic will be partnering with several more tournament organizers throughout the year for Fortnite esports,” also reported Rod Breslau on Twitter.
Fortnite: Epic Games To Sign More eSports Partnerships in 2019
As Breslau revealed, Epic Games is now focusing on signing more eSports partnerships in 2019. At the moment, there several Fortnite tournaments, but the games studio wishes to transform Fortnite into a true eSport phenomenon.
And since the prize pools will get bigger and bigger with the new eSports partnerships that Epic Games plan to seize, increasingly more Fornite players would join in official tournaments and competitions. Thus, Epic Games is on the right track to turn the most popular Battle Royale title into an eSport.
While, for the moment, we only know about the deal between Epic Games and ESL, the games studio would sign many more eSports partnerships for Fortnite in 2019.
