All of the Android TV users from all around the globe have woken up with a surprise when turning on their TVs today – they have probably noticed that things are a bit differently. Google has come with an update that brings rounded icons and a brand new font. The update also comes with system app updates, too.
What’s new with this update?
This brand new interface became visible on the Nvidia Shield, but it’s also tied to the Android TV Core Services. With this update, we’re also getting new versions of Backdrop Daydream and Chromecast Built-in. The user interface comes now with rounded corners everywhere, from the icons of the app, to content previews, to the app drawer – they all look a lot curvier.
Those users that pay attention to details will see a different animation when they open the apps, as well. Google has seen the opportunity to introduce the Google Sans font right on the home screen.
We didn’t think Android TV would be included
When it comes to the user interface, the icons and the font are the only ones that get changed. The overall look is a cleaner one, and it does look a bit like the Apple TV interface. Google has introduced a subtle design change with all of its suite of apps in order to align all the elements, forming a better experience, and we didn’t think that Android TV would also be in this line, but we were wrong!
What if I did not get it?
As we’ve all seen with Google updates, it might take some time before you will get the update for your device. Some users have chosen to get the update from an APK Mirror.
