Foldable phones are finally here, and various renders are out there right now. However, not all of them are real. In a few days, we’ll get those that are real, from Samsung, Huawei and many more.
Here’s what to expect from folding phones in 2019.
Samsung Galaxy X
This is the first one we’re going to see in 2019. People also know it as Galaxy F and Galaxy Fold. They also thought about their motto: “The future of mobile will unfold February 20, 2019”. Also, there’s a teaser on YouTube. Together with this device, we’re also expecting Samsung Galaxy S10, S10+, and a new Galaxy Watch.
It has a smaller screen on the front of the device, that will unfold like you open a book, that has the size of a tablet. The first display is on the rear.
We don’t know much about the specs; it’s likely to come with a resolution of 1,532×2,152 – 360 ppi. It’s designed to withstand 100.000 folds. It might also come with two 3,100mAh batteries and 512 GB worth of storage — also, dual-SIM support.
We don’t know anything about the price.
Huawei Mate Flex7
Huawei will be next in line at the MWC conference, on the 24th of February. The leaks have shown a tablet-sized display, probably of 8-inch, that will fold in the middle to get two smartphone-sized screens, back and front. We don’t know if this has been confirmed. However it is different than Samsung. We also have no confirmation for the name.
What we know for sure is that there will be one foldable phone, that will also support 5G.
