If you want some good old fashioned horror game in your life, you will be glad to hear that Friday The 13th: The Game is about to reach a new platform. This time, the game will be released on Nintendo Switch, and the release should take place this spring.
“We’re happy to be bringing ‘Friday the 13th: The Game’ to the Nintendo Switch with the help of our partners at Black Tower and Nighthawk,” Director of Communications at Gun Media, Daniel explained. “The Nintendo Switch offers a unique experience, in both social settings and on the go, that we feel work very well with ‘Friday the 13th: The Game.'”
Switch users will also receive all the DLC packs that exist so far, except the items that were Kickstarter-exclusive.
“Friday The 13th” Would Launch For Nintendo Switch This Spring, But No New DLC Will Come Out
If you were hoping for new game content, we are sad to inform you that this won’t happen anytime soon. That is something that was already confirmed last year. The game is going through a lot of legal trouble.
As you already know, Friday the 13th is based on the movie with the same title. The original screenwriter of the horror classic is trying to get back the rights to his original characters. That would influence all subsequent releases, including this game.
“We can’t add any content, whatsoever. Nada. Not even a new tree or rock,” said Creative Director Wes Keltner back then. “We can only focus on console-dedicated servers, bug fixes, and maintenance. I know this isn’t the news you wanted to hear, and I wish the situation were different. But it’s the painful truth,” he added. We don’t know yet whether they will win the lawsuit or not, and the future of the game might seem unclear at the moment.
