Huawei has recently talked about its foldable Mate X phone at Mobile World Congress 2019. It seems that the company cannot wait to for phones with sliding selfie cameras to make their appearance.
The selfie camera comes with a sliding function
This selfie camera is supposed to work just like Oppo’s Find X – a system will slide with a pair of selfie cameras from the back of the device. When someone activates the sliding function, a part of the back of the phone is extended and reveals the dual selfie cameras, that might also have a flash between them.
Slim bezels around the phone
It’s worth mentioning that, in its standard form, these devices seem to have slim bezels around the device, and a speaker at the top of the device. On the back, the device has a rear-facing camera setup, that comes with a single flash.
In-display fingerprint sensor
We could not find a fingerprint sensor, so Huawei probably decided to add an in-display fingerprint scanner, that’s similar to those we have in Huawei Mate 20 Pro. Huawei made this patent of the 1st of February, 2018 with the help of the World Intellectual Property Organization, which then made it public on the 1st of March 2019.
Why this patent will probably not meet the light of the day
Just as most of these patents, it’s not quite clear if Huawei will allow this phone to hit the market. The patent does show that the company, Huawei, wanted the pop-up camera technology long before Oppo released the Find X phone in June 2018.
