Sega will release the Sega Genesis Mini on 19th of September as it has been announced not too much time ago. Forty different games will be included, and at least some versions will have Castlevania Bloodlines and Gunstar Heroes.
Sega has made the announcement on stage at Sega Fes 2019 which is the fan event they host annually in Tokyo. Only the games for the Japanese Mega Drive Mini has been announced by the company, such as Puyo Puyo 2, Castlevania Bloodlines, Sonic 2, Shining Force, Gunstar Heroes, Powerball, Comix Zone, Space Harrier II, Rent-a-Hero, and Madou Monogatari Ichi. A few of these games will only be available in Japan, and as that happens, we can deduce that the European and the U.S. lineups will be different.
Sega Genesis Mini console will launch on September 19th, 2019
Sega said, in a later presentation at Sega Fes, that the developer behind Sega Ages, M2 is working on the software for the device. Different regional variations of some games have also been said to be included in the system. For example, the U.S., European, and Japanese versions of Castlevania: Bloodlines will be included in the Mega Drive Mini in Japan. It has not been mentioned that the overseas versions of the device would contain either similar or different regional variations, but it seems likely.
Regarding the details about the stage presentation of the Mini and the series itself, Sega was not that heavy on more information, but they mentioned that the size of the 6-button controller would be the same as the one of the original and that a save-anywhere function will be included in the games. The device will also have menu music composed by Yuzo Koshiro, the legendary Streets Of Rage composer and that is awesome.
