Super Smash Bros Ultimate has received a new update, its version 3.0 patch, packed with exciting new features, including a brand new character. The update also brings a free stage-builder, a video editor available for all of the players, and its first DLC character, Joker from Persona 5.
Brand New Character in Super Smash Bros Ultimate 3.0
The new character is available as a stand-alone purchase for $6 or as part of the five-pack Fighter’s Pass for $25, and it comes with a new Mementos stage, featuring music from throughout the Persona series.
Free Stage Builder
The free stage-builder allows users to create custom stages they can later battle on. You can draw on the tablet screen using your finger to create new stages, using the handheld mode. It looks like the tools are robust enough to help you fully express your creativity, while also supporting multiple layers to edit your stages in an even more profound way.
To access created stages, go on the Stage Select screen and pick the new Custom tab, where they are stored. Other people’s creations can also be explored and even downloaded, though you are going to need Nintendo Switch in order to do that.
Even more, players will be able to view recommended Stages, watch videos and queue up stage downloads from the Smash World part of the Nintendo Switch Online app.
Video Editor
The video editing feature allows you to splice clips from different replays together, then add music, transitions, and subtitles. It doesn’t seem to be a very in-depth tool, but it definitely has the capacity to test your imagination.
All in all, the new Super Smash Bros Ultimate 3.0 patch is a hefty update. It won’t be long until even more will be added. In the meantime, we are going to enjoy all of the new features, while looking forward to future releases.
