Blizzard has recently announced that it will not come to the Gamescom, which, in case you live under a rock, it is Europe’s largest game show hosted this year.
It all started with an announcement on the official website
There was an official announcement on the official Blizzard website, and the developer said that it all is a part of a renewed effort to keep being focused on the development of the game, for their current games and their future projects. This is an important decision, and they said that would not be attending the event this time.
However, those who come to the Gamescom event will be able to buy the Blizzard gear products, which is great news!
Why is Blizzard so important to Gamescom
If we are to look at the past years, the gaming company usually has a large booth on the Gamescom show floor, and their games cover many parts of the area. the company has used this show in order to make some big announcements. However, them not attending this show, means they don’t have any pieces of news about World of Warcraft, or Overwatch, or any other game from Activision Blizzard.
They also stated that they are exicted to announce new details about their projects, however, they’ll do it when the time is right. It’s possible that the next big announcements will be made at BlizzCon, which is usually taking place at the Anaheim Convention Center. That happens every November.
It has been said that Blizzard has laid off 209 staff earlier this year, due to restructuring at the Activision Blizzard company. It is not clear weather this restructure is the reason behind the company’s decision to keep their focus on the development, and miss the Gamescom this year.
