OxygenOS 11 has already been released on the OnePlus 8 models, while the 8T version has been launched with the new factory pre-installed software. However, OnePlus smartphone users of older generations are still waiting for news about the date when they will be able to update, and they have come right now, in early 2021. The company published on the official forum the launch plan for OnePlus Nord models , OnePlus 7 and 7T, while users of older or cheaper models recently released, will receive new information soon.
Which will be the OnePlus phones that receive OxygenOS 11
The first model that will be in line for the launch of OxygenOS 11, based on Android 11, is OnePlus Nord. That model, the company’s first mid-range premium, will first receive the software in beta. The good news is that users won’t have to wait long for this. Starting this week, those who participate in the test will be able to install it. In fact, it is an “open beta” so anyone can install it. However, a concrete launch is not set for this model. OnePlus says it will consider community feedback and release the final update only when it reaches high quality.
Those who still use the OnePlus 7 and 7T models will receive the update simultaneously on all these devices. It seems that there is an encryption issue that the company has encountered in developing the update to OxygenOS 11 for these devices, probably related to the Snapdragon 855 and 855+ chipsets. OnePlus promises to work with Qualcomm to resolve this issue and that as soon as it is resolved it will release an “open beta” version of the new software on these devices. Most likely, the update will come after the one from OnePlus Nord.
Unfortunately, those who still use OnePlus 6 or OnePlus 6T, will have to wait even longer for the new software. These devices, as well as the OnePlus N10 and OnePlus N100 variants, will be updated later.
