Embracing the Multiverse concept

Throughout its long history, Dragon Ball hasn’t added a lot of elements from a multiverse perspective. But when it comes to Dragon Ball Super, the series that was broadcast between two 2015 and 2018, our heroes had to face villains from other universes as well during tournaments. We could say that the totality of universes from Dragon Ball Superforming a Multiverse. Characters such as Jiren, Toppo, or Dyspo were from a different universe than Goku, Gohan, Vegeta, and the rest of the gang. However, those new characters weren’t actually villains, although they had to fight with everyone in order to take down our heroes. That’s because all of those characters, including the good ones, had to participate in the tournament of power in order to save their universes from being erased by the All-Powerful Zeno. Zeno just wanted to maintain some sort of balance and Multiverse, meaning that he wasn’t actually a bad guy. He is a supreme deity in Dragon Ball and the one who gives life, but even so, he has to take some drastic measures sometimes. As a result, the single universe that got the chance to survive was the one that won the tournament of power with its strongest fighters.

The fact that we will see a lot of characters from Dragon Ball Super in the roster of Fighters from Dragon Ball Sparking Zero is a strong argument to believe that we will indeed deal with a great video game. It will not be just another Dragon Ball game; it will be a fighting game that will embrace a lot of Dragon Ball elements, similar to how the Bulldog Kiting HG series has done. If we take a look at the Budokai Tenkaichi 3 video game, we can realize that there are characters even from the original Dragon Ball series, such as the Mercenary Tao, General Blue, Devilman, and so on. That game also has characters from Dragon Ball GT as well as transformation from that series that was not so beloved by the Dragon Ball fans. In Budokai Tenkaichi 3, we even get to see Super Saiyan 4 Goku and Super Sin Vegeta as they battle against Omega Shenron, who was the strongest villain in Dragon Ball so far.
