Musk Rebranded Twitter – What to Expect From the New ‘X’ App?

Larry, farewell! Twitter’s desktop site now features a white X on a black background in place of the familiar blue bird; the mobile app, however, has yet to be updated to reflect this change. We would lie if we said we didn’t see that coming, right?!

Get the entire story down below.

Musk actually hinted at changing the Twitter logo in a tweet he wrote on Sunday (July 23):

And soon, we shall bid adieu to the Twitter brand and, gradually, all the birds.

It was quite challenging to make sense of. Musk then added “X.com” to his Twitter bio and changed his profile picture to match the new logo. The reason for this is obvious: Musk is developing a new kind of social media network, which he refers to as a “super app” named X. He’s been planning the creation of this software for a while now. Apart from the odd change, it is not unexpected.

No one knows exactly why the letter X has always fascinated Musk, but it has been an obsession of his for quite some time. For example, one of his first ventures was an internet bank he dubbed X.com, which he started a while back in 1999. What will the future hold for X? Nobody knows! All we can do is see what emerges from here.

In a tweet, Twitter’s new CEO Linda Yaccarino called the service’s makeover “an exciting new opportunity.” She elaborated by saying:

Twitter made one massive impression and changed the way we communicate. Now, X will go further, transforming the global town square.

Where do you see Elon Musk’s Twitter headed, and what are your thoughts? What do you hope will occur in the years ahead?

To recall, back in 2011, Twitter co-founder Biz Stone explained that the popular little bird was named “Larry” in honor of Larry Bird, a basketball star and legend for the Boston Celtics. Bird played for the Celtics in Boston. On Twitter, many expressed their sadness about the logo’s removal, including the original designer, Martin Grasser, from 2012.
