Whether we like it or not, 2023 is a month away from its impending end, and it was a pretty good year for gaming. Titles such as Diablo IV, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Baldur’s Gate 3, Resident Evil 4, and EA FC 24 are just a few of the most important titles that were launched this year.
Although it was released less than three years ago, the PlayStation 5 console has already become a standard for the gaming industry. Most of the most important games that come out are compatible with PS5 as well, and it’s safe to assume that 2024 will be at least as an impressive year for gamers as 2023 already is.
Let’s cut to the chase and find out some of the most important games that are set to launch in 2024 for PlayStation 5 consoles:
Tekken 8 – Jan. 25 (2024)
If you’re looking for a ton of action and impressive graphics, surely you need to mark your calendar for January 25 (2024), as that’s the release date for Tekken 8. This upcoming game will arrive for PlayStation 5 as well, and it shall continue a glorious legacy of some of the most impressive and long-lasting fighting series in the history of gaming.
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown – Jan. 18 (2024)
Is there anyone who has never heard of the famous Prince of Persia series? We’ve known about this series firstly from retro consoles such as the legendary Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), an 8-bit console that took the world by storm way back in the ’90s. You almost couldn’t see a single child who didn’t have such a console at home. More than a quarter of a century later, we can expect a brand new Prince of Persia game, which will have infinitely superior graphics to the very first games of the series and a lot more compelling action.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League (Jan. 2, 2024)
If you’re a fan of how actors such as Will Smith and Margot Robbie played their roles in the Suicide Squad movie, it means that you should wait for the related game as well. Therefore, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will come out in early February for multiple platforms, including PlayStation 5, and the trailer confirms very well that we have strong reasons to be excited.
The forthcoming game is being developed by British developer Rocksteady Studios, the same company responsible for the Batman: Arkham series.
Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster – Feb. 29 (2024)
Are you ready for a new, exciting journey in a galaxy far, far away? Another year, another Star Wars video game is coming, and this one will be available for multiple platforms, including PS5. Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster, by its full name, qualifies as a shooter, and it has Lucas Arts as the publisher and Nightdive Studios as the dev team.
We’re actually talking about a remake of an older Star Wars game that came out in 1995, so there’s no use waiting to see some Champions League graphics. In this remake, the Rebel Alliance discovers the Death Star in a galaxy that is held by the empire’s grip. As in the very first iconic Star Wars movies, Death Star is a weapon so powerful that it can destroy entire planets. In other words, getting your hands on so much power can easily turn you into a merciless tyrant.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth – Feb. 29 (2024)
When you think about console gaming, one of the first title series that comes to mind is, without a doubt, Final Fantasy. The upcoming Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is an RPG/Adventure game developed by Square Enix, and it will be available exclusively for the PlayStation 5 console.
As the player of FF7 Rebirth ventures beyond Midgar, he will have to join Cloud and his friends and travel together through lush grasslands while also being accompanied by chocobos. As for Zack, he will have to fight his way back to the city amid a looming rift in the skies. Shinra Resistance Committee wages war as the world is going through difficult times.
Do you have what it takes to march victorious in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth?
EA FC 25 – September 2024
EA FC 24 is already making a lot of football games happy, even though it lacks the ‘FIFA’ word from its title. Otherwise, it’s the same game that continues the legacy left behind by FIFA games. Naturally, we can expect EA FC 25, the successor of EA FC 24, to come out.
Football out there in the real world has introduced a big change in its rules a few years back: the possibility of using up to 5 substitutes for a single match. Until that point, the limit was a maximum of 3 subs per game. Who knows, maybe football, in general, will evolve even more, and the devs behind the upcoming EA FC 24 will practically be forced to use those changes in their game as well. Every FIFA game has updated the rosters of players for each squad, such as their team names and leagues, and we can expect from EA FC 24 to follow suit.
GTA 6 – 2024 or beyond
Rockstar revealed that we should finally get an official trailer for the long-awaited GTA 6 game this December. If that’s the case, it means that the successor to GTA 5 will come out in several years for the worst-case scenario, but who knows, maybe Rockstar will find a way to release it in 2024. Only time or the trailer will tell for sure, or both!
Which one of the above-mentioned games do you want to play on a PlayStation 5 console the most and why? Feel free to comment!
