If there is indeed a game franchise that for many gamers meant many hours of play, an infinite amount of time spent on building bases, preparing attacks, and then them to crush enemies, it is obviously the Command & Conquer series. Fortunately, Electronic Arts have just announced that they plan on releasing an anniversary Command & Conquer remastered version to celebrate the series’ 25th anniversary.
Electronic Arts had announced before that it ended up with the Command & Conquer series after the release of the Command & Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight title. Back then, the feedback from the series fans was not entirely positive, as many criticized the title’s remastered and confusing gameplay.
Announced this year, Command & Conquer: Rivals, however, is still raising hopes for the fans, despite the fact it would only be a title for Android and iOS. Hopefully, this one wouldn’t fail in delivering the sought-after gameplay that made the franchise famous in the 1990s. However, EA announced the revival of the franchise on PC.
Electronic Arts plan to revive the Command & Conquer series for PC with some remasters
“As most of you may know we recently announced Command & Conquer: Rivals, a mobile game set in the Command & Conquer universe. Following the reveal of Rivals, we heard you loud and clear: the Command & Conquer community also wants to see the franchise return to PC,” said Jim Vessella, a producer at EA, on Reddit.
“And as a fan of C&C for over 20 years, I couldn’t agree more. With that in mind we’ve been exploring some exciting ideas regarding remastering the classic PC games, and already have the ball rolling on our first effort to celebrate the upcoming 25th Year Anniversary,” Vessella added.
Finally, let’s hope that this will only be a first step before the release of new episodes as in the good old days of the Command & Conquer franchise.
