WhatsApp iOS Beta Supports Video Playback Directly From Notifications Bar

WhatsApp is now testing a new feature on its iOS instant messaging app version. Accordingly, users of the WhatsApp iOS Beta version 2.18.102.5 would get support for video playback directly from the notifications bar, easing up the ways they can see what their contacts have sent them.

While WABetaInfo announced that the new feature in WhatsApp iOS Beta 2.18.102.5 is already available for the version’s users, the exact date when this function would come to the final version on App Store is yet unknown.

With this new function, users won’t need to open up the WhatsApp app on their iOS devices to check out what videos their contacts have sent to them. Now, they will be able to watch the videos directly from the notifications panel. Before the implementation of this new feature in WhatsApp iOS Beta 2.18.102.5, WhatsApp devs updated their iOS instant messaging app with a function that allows users to preview media files they receive directly from the notification bar.

The new media preview function, as well as the newly rolled out WhatsApp iOS beta support for video playback directly from notifications bar, are requiring iOS 10 or higher to work.

“WhatsApp is rolling out the possibility to view videos directly in the push notification for any iOS beta user having the 2.18.102.5 version installed! It will be available soon for App Store users,” said WABetaInfor on Twitter.

At the moment, the so-called notification extension in WhatsApp on iOS permits users to preview images and GIF files from the notification panels of their devices, without the need to open up the instant messaging application. Users can use 3D Touch or swipe left on the respective WhatsApp notification to preview the pics of GIFs they received.
