Downtime for the patch began a couple of hours ago, and Fortnite players are in for a treat. Just by looking at the patch notes released by the Fortnite team, we have been overwhelmed! It is a very long list with new content and tweaks that we will not breakdown because it will take you about an hour to read the article, so we are overviewing the most important aspects of the patch.
Fortnite v7.40 Patch Notes Overview
First of all, it’s Valentine’s Day, and Fortnite is celebrating in style, surprising the players:
Everyone who completes 13 free Overtime Challenges by February 27 will receive the upcoming Season 8 Battle Pass for FREE! If you don’t have an outfit, now is your chance to get several for free. With the Battle Pass, you’ll receive two Season 8 Outfits instantly and you can earn up to five more. Save your V-Bucks, this one’s on us!
The overtime challenges and rewards that will let you play season 8 for free will also unlock five new rewards like the Valentine Wrap and Vines Contrail. Current Battle Pass owners that complete overtime challenges will unlock styles for the Trog, Powder, and Onesie outfits.
Limited Time Gifting
Starting today, you get limited time gifting until 22 February, and today you will also be able to send the Heartspan Glider to a special player until 15 February, 7 pm ET.
The Infantry Rifle
The v7.40 patch will also bring a semi-automatic weapon – the infantry rifle, which comes in Common, Uncommon and Rare variants.
Limited Time Mode Rotations
Players will get to enjoy Limited Time Mode Rotations which you can check in the game client. Among them, you will see ‘Limited Time Mode: Catch!’, and ‘Limited Time Mode: Team Rumble.’
Weapons and Items: Buffs, Nerfs, Changes
The Fortnite team has also worked on improving, buffing and nerfing weapons and items like the Bush consumable, Hand Cannon, Rocket Launcher, and more.
