PlayStation 5 Would Aim To Improve Multiplayer Game Experiences

There isn’t much time left until we will receive the next generation of consoles. We do not have an official release date for any of them, but the announcements are approaching. Each company is planning its own improvements, and it will be exciting to see what the final results will be. PlayStation 5, for its part, would aim to improve multiplayer game experiences, according to Shawn Layden, head of PlayStation division at Sony.

When it comes to Sony’s PlayStation 5, we did hear some rumors about its specs, although nothing is certain so far. However, today we are going to focus on the type of gameplay experiences that will be delivered by this console.

Shawn Layden, head of PlayStation, did discuss a bit about the possible directions that will be adopted by the console. It appears that there will be some differences compared to the PlayStation 4. Layden offered more details in an interview with Business Insider.

PlayStation 5 To Improve Multiplayer Game Experiences

The current console received numerous successful single-player titles. The list includes Marvels Spider-Man, Horizon: Zero Dawn and God of War. However, it was noticed by fans that multiplayer games were missing. Meanwhile, other PlayStation consoles did have such titles, including hits such as the SOCOM franchise and the Killzone one. That was acknowledged by Layden as well.

“Worldwide Studios, as I say, we’ve been going really heavy into story-driven gaming. The power of the narrative. Big, spectacular experiences. But not a whole lot in the multiplayer side of things, I think. That’s an area where you will likely see us start to make more noise in the new term,” Layden said.

It is very likely that the PlayStation 5 will solve this issue. Many games should roll out this year, and even if the new console doesn’t come out soon, the games can be cross-generational.
