Bethesda is celebrating the 25th anniversary of its popular The Elder Scrolls series. With this occasion, the game studio will offer free copies of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind to PC users.
The first game in the series, The Elder Scrolls: Arena, was released in March 1994. At first, the game focused heavily on action, with the player character participating in gladiator battles while select side quests were planned. After winning a tournament, the player character continued to travel to the next destination until he or she became a grand champion in the Imperial City, which served as the capital of the world. As time passed the developers opted to add more quests, while abandoning the concept of tournaments and swapping them with dangerous dungeons which offered a significant challenge.
The game missed its launch window of Christmas 1993, but it became a hit among RPG players. A sequel was already planned, with an ambitious plot and several new features among which we can count the ability to generate your class. As one of the first 3D games, Daggerfall was quite ambitious, with the in-game world being on par with the size of Great Britain.

The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind is the third entry in the series and without a doubt the game that popularized the series all over the world. While the scale was a bit smaller in comparison to the previous entry the game and its two expansions were well-received by the public and critics alike.
