All gamers are excited about the upcoming PlayStation 5, despite the fact that the wait for it is far from over. There are many things that we wish to learn about the PlayStation 5 and the price is one of them. While fans already anticipate some of the specs of the next gen console, they also want to know how much they will need to pay for it.
If you are wondering whether you need to start saving up for the console, we might have the answers for you. Let’s see what we know about the PS5 price.
Price reveal
Mark Cerny did talk at length about the PlayStation 5. However, he did not mention the price for it. However, he might have offered us some tips. Peter Rubin posed two tweets that mention some details about the price:
“So: this didn’t make it into my PlayStation story, but given how much people are speculating about the Sony console’s price (esp given the SSD/chip combo), thought I should probably give a tiny little bit of interview transcript on it. (1/2)”
“Me: There’s always been a general range of launch pricing. Will the next console hew to that range?@cerny: I believe that we will be able to release it at an SRP [suggested retail price] that will be appealing to gamers in light of its advanced feature set.”
Based on these tweets it is safe to say that the price will be bigger than the one of the PlayStation 4, which is underst6andable. However, there shouldn’t be a major price change. At the moment we have reasons to believe that $499 will be the price point. In the past Sony tried to charge $599 for a system but that did not work well. Therefore, the $499 price seems to be the most plausible option.
