It’s pretty difficult to imagine the gaming world without Zelda, which is why the guys from Nintendo decided to build a brand new game of the series and release it for the controversial Nintendo Switch handheld console. Launched back in May, the new The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom proves once again that Nintendo Switch can indeed compete with other consoles such as PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
When Switch came out back in 2017, a lot of people were skeptical of the capabilities of Nintendo’s console. They couldn’t believe that such a console would be able to compete with PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, the main consoles that existed at that time. But to their amazement, Switch can prove to go toe to toe even with the latest PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles that came out in late 2020.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom runs very well on Nintendo Switch, but even so, Nintendo didn’t stop there. The company released the 1.2.1 update for the game back in late August, providing some solid fixes.
Update 1.2.1: What’s new
Nintendo didn’t hesitate to reveal the patch notes of the new Update 1.2.1 for The Legend of Zelda, and here they are:
- Fixed an error that didn’t allow players to obtain the contents of treasure chests attached to Flux
- Constructs when the treasure chests disappeared due to the attacks of Flux Construct. In case the treasure chest disappears, reloading the saved data will either restore the treasure chest or determine the chest’s contents to automatically emerge in your Pouch.
- Several other issues have been solved for the player to have an improved gameplay experience.
- Fixed an error that caused the screen to flicker intensely during large amounts of stamps being placed on the Map.
- If a specific event does not start when talking to Koltin after collecting all of the Bubbul Gems, the new update fixes the problem.
The game costs 70 bucks
If you are determined to play the new The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom on a Nintendo Switch, as otherwise, you can’t play the game on any other console, you are free to grab the game from Nintendo’s official website. However, this move will cost you $69.99 if you want to purchase either the Digital or the Physical version. If, instead, you want to grab the Physical version plus the Collector’s edition, you will have to pay $129.99.
Here’s an official description for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom game:
An epic adventure awaits in the Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom game, only on the Nintendo Switch system.
In this sequel to the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild game, you’ll decide your own path through the sprawling landscapes of Hyrule and the mysterious islands floating in the vast skies above. Can you harness the power of Link’s new abilities to fight back against the malevolent forces that threaten the kingdom?
One of the most burning questions that Zelda fans have is if the new game of the legendry series can be played on PlayStation consoles. Unfortunately or not, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is a Nintendo Switch exclusive, and adding the rivalry between Sony and Nintendo, we can be sure that only a miracle will cause the new Zelda game to work for PlayStation consoles. And as far as we know, miracles don’t exist in the gaming world.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has received the The Game Award for Most Anticipated Game.
