Pretty much everyone is on YouTube these days, so why wouldn’t you be among them as well? Surely you have something interesting to show to the world. Let’s say that you’ll finally become determined in the near future to start your own YouTube channel to show the world what delicious recipes you can cook, for instance. But you are not so confident about your PC’s capabilities of supporting video editing, as a lot of people have told you that you need a monster GPU. Well, is that really true?
What’s for sure is that, indeed, a graphics card plays a major role when you edit your videos, such as any other major hardware component. You’ve probably been told that there’s no way to be a true vlogger unless you have a superadvanced recording camera and a PC from another world that features a high-tech GPU.
Video editing can be done even on a 2GB VRAM GPU
It can be enough to have only a GPU with 2GB of VRAM to start your vlogging journey. However, there’s a little catch here. If your processor is an Intel Core i3, for instance, it’s better not to torment it with your video editing, regardless of how talented your mom assures that you are. It will be tormenting for you as well, trust us! That’s because the process of video editing will be very slow, and your PC will also heat up pretty much.
You should at least have a processor such as AMD Ryzen 5, 16 gigs of RAM onboard, as well as plenty of free storage space. Of course, video quality can vary, and it’s not mandatory to upload 4K videos on YouTube to get plenty of followers. HD videos can also be enough, especially if you’re new to the vlogging business. Furthermore, not everybody has displays capable of running 4K videos, so they’ll stick to the Full HD quality. In fact, most people still don’t have 4K displays!
In other words, the idea that it is mandatory to have a monster GPU mounted in your PC to become a vlogger is just a myth. Those who claim so only like to boast about their gear and how cool and rich they are to afford to buy it.
There are lots of video editing apps that will do all the work for you
While you now know that it’s not mandatory to have a super powerful PC to edit your videos in order to show the world how full of talent you are, another beautiful fact to keep in mind is that anybody can make it when it comes to the video editing process itself. There are lots of programs out there to choose from that are able to do all the work for you, such as Shotcut, Adobe Premiere Pro, Filmora, and so on. With just a little attention, you can definitely learn to edit your videos in such programs, not to mention that the world is teeming with video tutorials about just about anything, including video editing.
If you choose Shotcut, for instance, there’s a nice option that allows you to save your progress of editing a specific video and resume the process from where you left off at a later date. In other words, Shotcut won’t let you down one bit, and it can be the right program for anybody who’s new to the vlogging business. Let’s also not forget that Shotcut is free to use.
What’s your take on video editing? What kind of software or GPU do you prefer when editing your videos if you’re a vlogger? Feel free to tell us in the comment section!
